Quality Music Education For All Children

“We have seen… the test scores go up all across the board. The self-esteem of these kids that have an instrument in their hand and play together… anyone [who sees that] would think it’s ludicrous ever to cut out music from your school, and I hope people will get that message.”
— Joshua Bell, Grammy Winning Violinist, PBS

Education Through Music (ETM) partners with inner-city schools to provide music as a core subject for all children, and utilizes music education as a catalyst to improve academic achievement, motivation for school, and self-confidence.

ETM believes that every child deserves access to high-quality music education, taught by qualified and well-trained music teachers. We also believe that music should support learning in other key areas, including math, science, and English Language Arts, and that engaged parents and school communities are key to the success of students.

The Foundation believes that music can make a meaningful difference in everyone’s life and play an essential role in educational and social development. Striving to bring the transformative power of music to the greatest number of children, the Foundation also supports the Third Street Music School and the Harmony Program.
